Alcasid, whose last month’s wedding with fellow singer Regine Velasquez was attended by PNoy and even posted as one of the groomsmen, was also appointed to convene entertainment and music for the 25th anniversary of EDSA People Power on February 25.

EDSA People Power 1 Revolution is a historical event for the country that was led by PNoy’s mother; the late President Corazon Aquino in 1986 and eventually ended the 21-year regime of President Ferdinand Marcos.

Ogie Alcasid, a noted singer-composer, and apparently a good friend of Kris Aquino, PNoy’s youngest sister, will be joined by Christopher Carreon, Conrado de Quiros, Emily Abrera, and Milagros Kilayko to the said commission.

Early last month, PNoy also appointed Ogie’s father Herminio Alcasid Sr., as chairman of the board of directors of the Development Management Corp., a subsidiary of the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC).

The appointment was criticized by some groups, as allegedly a payback to Ogie (Herminio Alcasid Jr. in real life) for supporting PNoy’s candidacy in last year’s presidential election.

Malacanang immediately denied the allegations and noted that the elder Alcasid is a lawyer and fits to the position.
