PNoy appoints FPJ’s Daughter Grace Poe as New MTRCB Chief

PNoy has appointed the daughter of the late movie actor Fernando Poe Jr. as the new Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chief, as announced by a Malacañang official on Sunday.

Grace Poe Llamanzares, Philippine’s movie king FPJ’ daughter was appointed by PNoy to replace Consoliza Laguardia as MTRCB chief, as told by deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte during a radio interview.

Consoliza Laguardia, is an appointee of then President Gloria Arroyo, who won over FPJ (aka Da King) during the 2004 Presidential election.

Valte also confirmed at DZRB, a government-owned radio station that Grace Poe went through and passed the screening process, and the president trusts her

Poe Llamanzares, who was said to finished Political Science at the Boston College in the US, is qualified to be MTRCB chief, Valte said.

Being FPJ’s daughter would also be an asset in promoting the Philippine movie industry, the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, PNoy also appointed noted film director Emmanuel Borlaza as vice chairman of the film and television review body, an agency attached to the Office of the President.

As of this moment, there is no specific date for the oath-taking of FPJ’s daughter, and as to whether Laguardia would be appointed to another government post.

Earlier, there were speculations that actor Dingdong Dantes or ace comedian Joey de Leon will possibly be appointed as the new MTRCB chief.
