Rachel Angeli B. Miranda topped the 2015 bar examination while Athena C. Plaza followed her at the second spot.

Reports said Miranda got a rating of 87.40% while Plaza got 87.25%. Miranda is from University of the Philippines and Plaza is from University of San Carlos.

Completing the Top 10 Bar Topnotchers are:

  • Jayson Aguilar of UP (3rd place, 86.75 percent);
  • Reginald Arceo of Ateneo de Manila University (4th place, 86.70 percent);
  • Mandy Therese Anderson of Ateneo (5th place, 86.15 percent);
  • Giselle Hernandez of UP (6th place, 86.1 percent);
  • Darniel Bustamante of San Beda College (7th place, 85.90 percent);
  • Jecca Jacildo of USC, Soraya Laut of Xavier University and Jericho Tiu of Ateneo (8th place, 85.85 percent);
  • Jedd Brian Hernandez of UP (9th place, 85.80 percent);
  • Ronel Buenaventura of Bulacan State University and Lara Carmela Fernando of San Beda (10th place, 85.75 percent)

“I never thought that I would top the bar. It was a shock. It was surprising. I tried my best during the exam, but the result still came as a surprise,” Miranda reportedly said.

Meanwhile, it is indeed purely coincidental that the topnotchers are Miranda and Plaza, which when combined becomes Plaza Miranda, a public square regarded as the center of Philippine political discourse prior to the imposition of martial law in 1972 (Wikipedia).
