As noted at Philboxing.com that day, Boom Boom Bautista defeated Genaro Garcia in the main event of a series of boxing match dubbed as Pinoy Pride XII at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

According to the report, the first round did not show a lot of action and Garcia went down in Round 2 due to two hooks by Bautista. The “challenger” stood up but a short right from the Filipino boxer that made him down again and referee Bruce McTavish counted him out at the 1:24 mark.

But the night prior to the fight, ALA Promotions has decided that the boxing match be made “free to the public” after learning that the Genaro Garcia that arrived is not the Mexican boxer that Boom Boom” Bautista is schedule to fight, which will be aired at ABS-CBN at around 10:30 a.m. this Sunday (local time).

Apparently, the boxing had a mixed up since Mexico wrongfully send the wrong boxer, Genaro “Panterita” Garcia (10 wins, 11 losses) instead of Genaro “Poblanito” García, who has a professional record of 38 wins and 8 losses, with 22 knockouts.

“We cannot short change the public after what happened.” ALA Promotions CEO Michael Aldeguer was quoted in the report, noting that the VIP tickets were already sold out and a refund at the counter of the said sports complex is not possible.

“This is a huge financial blow for us but we will learn from this mistake. We will get to the bottom of this. But we will pay this Garcia the same amount of money.” Aldeguer added, with the fight watched by around 30,000 boxing fans.

“We wanted to get a quality opponent for Boom Boom. We negotiated and spent money for it. But we were given the wrong boxer.” Aldeguer explained, stressing out that a thorough investigation will be made.
