Pinoy Pride Update: AJ Banal wins via disqualification vs Luis Alberto Perez

The “Pinoy Pride” battle of Banal vs Perez ended unexpectedly. Philboxing.com reported earlier that AJ “Bazooka” Banal wins his “Pinoy Pride” bout against Nicaraguan and two time world champion Luis Alberto Perez. The Nicaraguan lost the fight via disqualification after he hit Banal with a vicious right cross squarely in the head while the referee is separating them. Banal went down in the canvas and was unable to continue the fight. Referee Ver Abainza declared Banal as the winner by disqualification at the 1:47 mark of the 7th round. The Banal-Perez bout is the main event of the “Pinoy Pride” held at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino.

Banal was leading all score cards of the judges before the disqualification. The judges’ scores the first six rounds with 59-55, 59-55, 60-54 all for Banal.
