A pink diamond was expected to fetch up to $15 million during an auction at Christie’s Magnificent Jewels on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. However, the 10-carat Fancy Vivid cushion-cut pink diamond failed to find a buyer, international reports said.

The pink diamond was expected to be the auction’s highlight because this type of diamonds are rare and the most priciest colored diamonds in the world.

Reports said that bidders failed to reach the minimum price the owner is willing to accept, thus, the pink diamond remains unsold.

Christie’s head of jewelry in New York, Radul Kadakia said in a press statement that they were disappointed that the 10-carat pink diamond failed to find a buyer.

“The transaction is still alive, and though the diamond did not sell in the room last night, perhaps we’ll see something take place in the coming days,” Kadakia said.
