According to TMZ on Friday, May 18, 2012, multiple sources told them that Phillips‘ family doctor stayed on his side almost the whole day when he went back home to Georgia last Saturday and he thinks a surgery should be done immediately.

As noted in the report, the 21-year old American Idol Season 11 finalist from Leesburg has started his kidney problem back in October and getting worst during the start of the singing competition, and was rushed to the hospital in early March after complaining of severe abdominal pain.

Phillips, who sang “Disease” by Matchbox 20 during the American Idol 2012 Top 3 performance night, was said to have undergone a medical procedure that time where an artificial ‘tube’ called ‘stent’ was installed in his kidney as a temporary cure.

Apparently, Phillip reportedly was not allowed to join some of the field productions for American Idol earlier including the Ford commercials since the ‘temporary tube’ inside his body may cause more trouble if he will travel frequently and if the locations are quite far.

Nevertheless, Phillip Phillips is being set for a surgery right after the American Idol 2012 Grand Finale on Wednesday, May 23, but will first compete against Jessica Sanchez the day before, as the two American Idol 2012 Top 2 finalists to be performing three songs each.
