Philippines’ Junrey Balawing: Expected to be named as World’s Shortest Living Man by Guinness World Records (Pictures)

According to several international news sites as of June 11, 2011, Junrey Balawing, a Filipino teenager from southern Philippines, standing just 22 inches tall, is to be proclaimed the shortest man by the Guinness World Records as he turns 18 years old by Sunday (June 12, 2011).

As of June 11, 2011, Lolit Homay, municipal health officer in Zamboanga del Norte, reportedly revealed that Junrey Balawing, who hails from Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte, was measured at about 24 and ¼ inches (about 61 centimeters) from head to foot lying down and slightly below 23 inches (58 centimeters) standing up.

Reports claim that a representative of Guinness World Records will announce the official measurement on Sunday, June 12, 2011.

Apparently, similar reports attest that Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal, the current record holder, is 26.4 inches tall.
