The move by the world’s number 1 internet search engine is a direct challenge to Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS.

Samsung and Acer will initially provide the new web-centric computer models.

According to reports, Chrome OS is a web browser that will allow users to access applications that include email, and spreadsheets directly on the web. The new OS eliminates the traditional installation and update of applications directly on the PC. More importantly, Chrome software will be free.

Chrome OS is expected to boost Google‘s internet ads business since people will use the internet more often.
