Paris Air Show 2011: Eurocopter’s X3 Rotorcraft Debuts (Video)

Eurocopter, a division of aerospace and defense company EADS, will perform the first public demonstration of its X3 hybrid rotorcraft for the 2011 Paris Air Show at Le Bourget Exhibition Centre, Paris, June 20- 26, 2011, according to several international news sites.

Based on reports, the new Eurocopter prototype combines the versatility of a helicopter, by way of vertical take-off and landing having the higher speed of a plane.

“The X3 is an excellent example of how we are preparing for the future…I am sure that professional visitors and the public alike will be impressed by the X3’s extraordinary flight demonstrations at this year’s Paris Air Show, which are unequalled in aviation”,Lutz Bertling, Eurocopter’s President and CEO said in a statement.

Recent reports added that Eurocopter expects a wide range of utilization for the X3 hybrid helicopter. Some of its features includes long distance search and rescue (SAR) missions, coast guard duties, border patrol missions, passenger transport, offshore operations and inter-city shuttle services.

Reports also mentioned that more than 2,100 exhibitors from 45 countries have signed up to take part in the event that will showcase both commercial and defense aircraft.
