Airbus, a subsidiary of EADS, is expecting to bag a $16 billion contract with Indian budget airline IndiGo during the 2011 Paris Air Show on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, according to reports by several international news sites.

The AirbusIndiGo deal, will be 200 units higher than the expected AirAsia deal on Thursday, will definitely be a big boost for Airbus parent company, EADS.

The deal is reportedly the largest commercial aircraft order in history. The negotiations started in January of this year, where IndiGo placed a provisional order of 150 refurbished A320neos and 30 new A320 models.

AirbusA320 has a capacity of 150 passengers and directly competes with Boeing‘s 737 aircraft in fuel efficiency for low-cost carriers.

IndiGo is reportedly eyeing an initial public offering to finance its Airbus order.
