PAGASA Weather Update: Typhoon Katring still far from RP

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a Tropical Cyclone Update at 10:45 p.m, October 24, 2010. According to PAGASA, Typhoon “Katring” (international codename: Chaba)  is too far from the Philippines to have a major effect in the weather system of the country.

Tropical Storm “Katring” was spotted 890 km East Southeast of Northern Luzon with coordinates of 16.3°N, 131.6°E. Typhoon “Katring” has maintained its strength as it moves at 9 kph generally in a North Northwestward direction with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Based on PAGASA‘s forecast, typhoon “Katring” is expected to be 790 km East of Northern Luzon by Monday evening, 730 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon on Tuesday evening and 720 km East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon on Wednesday evening.

PAGASA has not raised any Public Storm Warning Signals.
