According to the latest weather update issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) as of 5 pm today, June 8, 2011,Low Pressure Area (LPA) was spotted 50 km. northwest of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro.

PAGASA added, based on  satellite and surface data, that Luzon and Western Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Widespread rains will be experience over Central Luzon and western areas of Southern Luzon which may result to flash floods and landslides.

The rest of the country will have mostly cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.

PAGASA said that Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds coming from the Southwest and Southeast, while the coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Other parts of the country will experience light to moderate winds coming from the Southwest and Southeast area, with slight to moderate waters.

Meanwhile, local reports say that knee-deep floods were experienced from along the highway from Batangas City Capitol up to Alangilan area. Many cars were stranded due to the heavy flooding in the area.

PAGASA will release its next bulletin at 5 am on Thursday, June 9, 2011.
