PAGASA Weather Forecast: Typhoon Bebeng Weakened Slightly

According to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)’s Severe Weather Bulletin Number Eleven issued at 11:00 am, local time, on Monday, May 9, 2011, tropical storm Bebeng has weakened slightly as it made landfall over Northern Casiguran, Aurora.

As of 10:00 am today, Bebeng‘s center was located at 80km south southeast of Tuguegarao City or 55 km north northwest of Casiguran, Aurora. Its maximum sustained winds are reported to be 75 kph near the center and has gustiness of up to 90 kph. It moves north northwest at 15 kph.

Public Storm Warning Signals have been lowered on some parts of Luzon. Below are the list of provinces with Public Storm Warning Signals:

  • Ilocos Norte

  • Calayan group of Islands
  • Batanes

The bulletin said that Bebeng is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring rains over the rest of Southern Luzon and Visayas. Residents living in places with Public Storm Warning Signals are advised to take all necessary precautions against possible flash floods and landslides. Those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges because of this storm.

The next bulletin will be issued by PAGASA at 5:00pm today.
