PAGASA Typhoon Pedring update as of 11 pm Sept 26, Metro Manila still under Public Storm Signal No. 2

Manila, PhilippinesPAGASA still maintains a Public Storm Signal No. 2 in Metro Manila and Public Storm Signal No. 3 in some areas in northern Luzon due to typhoon ‘Pedring’.

According to PAGASA on their 11 pm update on Monday, September 26, 2011, typhoon ‘Pedring’ has further intensified as it continues to threaten Isabela-Aurora area.

PAGASA said that typhoon ‘Pedring’ is at 170 km East Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora as of 10 pm (local time) on Monday and is being estimated to move West Northwest at 17 kph.

Typhoon ‘Pedring’ was noted to have maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 170 kph.

Bagyong ‘Pedring’ and being expected to make its landfall over Aurora-Isabela area on Tuesday morning and will be in the vicinity of Baguio City in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, PAGASA noted that Aurora, Isabela, Cagayan, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Nueva Viscaya, and Quirino are under Public Storm Signal No. 3.

On the other hand, Public Storm Signal No. 2 was raised in Ilocos Norte, Ilocas Sur, Abra, Apayao, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Catanduanes, Rizal, Quezon, Polillo Island, Bataan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Metro Manila.

Earlier, Deped announced that NCR classes will remain suspended tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept 27, for kinder, elementary and high school, for both public and private schools, as well as in Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Viscaya and Cagayan.

Moreover, Public Storm Signal No. 1 is being raised in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Marinduque, Albay, Sorsogon, Burias, Lubang Islands, Babuyan, and Calayan group of Islands.
