PAGASA Typhoon Pedring update 11 pm Sept 27, Metro Manila down to Public Storm Signal No. 1

Manila, PhilippinesPAGASA lowered the warning in Metro Manila to Public Storm Signal No. 1 in Metro Manila as typhoon ‘Pedring’ reduces its strength on Tuesday late afternoon.

According to PAGASA on their 11 pm update on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, typhoon ‘Pedring’ has maintained its strength and continues moving in a west northwest direction.

PAGASA said that typhoon ‘Pedring’ is at 200 km West Northwest of Baguio City as of 10 pm (local time) on Tuesday; and is being estimated to move West Northwest at 19 kph and may leave the country on Wednesday afternoon.

Bagyong ‘Pedring’ was noted to have maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 150 kph and being expected to be 590 km Northwest of Baguio City on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, PAGASA noted that La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Tarlac, Benguet, Ilocos Sur are under Public Storm Signal No. 2, with no more areas under Public Storm Signal No. 3.

On the other hand, Public Storm Signal No. 1 is still being raised to Bataan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Visacaya, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte, Quirino, Bulacan and Metro Manila.

On a separate report, Deped identified the areas where classes will remain suspended on Wednesday, September 28, particularly in places greatly affected by Bagyong ‘Pedring’.

Deped emphasized that they may still announce further suspension of classes other areas in NCR and nearby towns at 4 a.m. on Wednesday depending on the latest PAGASA weather update and advice from local officials.
