PAGASA Typhoon Egay Update as of 5 pm June 17, Storm Signal No. 1 in Catanduanes, Northern and Eastern Samar

Manila, Philippines – As of 5 pm (local time) on Friday, June 17, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised Storm Signal No. 1 in Catanduanes, Northern and Eastern Samar.

As noted by PAGASA on its official website, as of 4 p.m. (local time) on Friday, June 17, Typhoon Egay is at 250 km East of Guiuan City, Eastern Samar and moving Northwest at 13 kph.

TD “EGAY” will enhance Habagat and brings rains over the western section of Southwern Luzon, Visayas and of Mindanao.” PAGASA posted on Twitter a few minutes ago.

According to PAGASA, Typhoon Egay has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and it continues to move northwest and threatens Eastern Visayas and Catanduanes.

Under Storm Signal No. 1 with winds of 45 to 60 kph, residents in low lying and mountainous areas are being warned by PAGASA for possible flashfloods and landslides.

According to PAGASA forecast, Typhoon Egay will be 250 km Southeast of Virac, Catanduanes on Saturday morning and 200 km North Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes on Sunday afternoon.

On Monday morning, TD Egay is being estimated by PAGASA to be 180 km Northeast of Tuguegarao, Cagayan.
