PAGASA: Typhoon ‘Bagyong’ Mina Update as of 5 pm August 25, Public Storm Signal raised to Northern Luzon

Manila, PhilippinesTyphoon ‘Bagyong’ Mina has further strengthened as it continues to threaten Northern Luzon, and public storm signals were raised in some areas of the country.

According to the 5 pm update (Thursday, August 25, 2011) of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Bagyong Mina is 260 km East of Casiguran, Aurora.

As of 4 pm (local time), PAGASA noted that Typhoon Mina has sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph and moving West Northwest at 7 kph.

Meanwhile, PAGASA raised Public Storm Signal No.2 in the areas of Northern Aurora, Isabela and Cagayan, with winds from 60 to 100 kph and heavy rain is being expected.

On the other hand, Public Storm Signal No.1 was raised to Nueva Ecija, Nueva Viscaya, Quirino, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Kalinga, Apayao, Calayan, Babuyan, Batanes Group of Islands and the rest of Aurora.

Typhoon Mina is being expected to be 150 km Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora on Friday afternoon and to be 210 km North Northeast of Tuguegarao City or at 110 km Southeast of Basco, Batanes the next day.
