PAGASA: Typhoon ‘Bagyong’ Mina Update as of 5 am August 26, Public Storm Signal No. 3 in Isabela, Cagayan

Manila, PhilippinesTyphoon “Bagyong” Mina continues to intensify as it slowly moves closer to Northern Luzon, and Public Storm Signal was increased from No. 2 to No. 3 is some areas.

According to the 5 am update (Friday, August 26, 2011) of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Bagyong Mina is 170 km East of Casiguran, Aurora.

As of 4 am (local time), Typhoon Mina was seen to have sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph and moving West Northwest at 9 kph.

Meanwhile, PAGASA raised Public Storm Signal No.3 in the areas of Northern Aurora, Isabela and Cagayan, with winds from 100 to 185 kph and heavy rain is being expected.

On the other hand, PAGASA raised Public Storm Signal No.2 to Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan Grp., Apayao, Kalinga, Quirino and the rest of Aurora.

For other areas in North Luzon including Ilocos Norte, Abra, Ilocos Sur, Mt. Province, Benguet, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya and Nueva Ecija; Public Storm Signal No.1 is now being raised.

Typhoon Mina is being expected to be 100 km Northeast of Tuguegarao City on Saturday afternoon and to be 40 km South Southeast of Basco, Batanes on Sunday afternoon.
