Pacquiao, who is a congressman of Saranggani, Philippines was interviewed by National Conservative Examiner‘s Granville Ampong in his residence at the Palazzo Complex in Los Angeles, California last Friday, May 11, where he addressed his opinion on same-sex marriage.

“God’s words first … obey God’s law first before considering the laws of man,” Manny Pacquiao was quoted during the interview; with the boxing champion recently renewed his Christian faith and became active in Bible preaching and spreading the Word of God.

“God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other. It should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah of Old.” Pacquiao added.

The 33-year old eight-division world boxing champion also noted that “America should be the model of morality for other countries to emulate and must have the responsibility to uphold the Scripture to the highest order of God’s command”.

Apparently, Manny Pacquiao is now preparing for his fight against Timothy Bradley this coming June 9 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, for his defense in the WBO Welterweight championship title.

On the other hand, President Obama, who is now running for a reelection this coming November, earned praises from the LGBT community for announcing via an ABC interview in the White House last May 9 that he is supporting gay marriage.

“I have hesitated on gay marriage in part because I thought that civil unions would be sufficient…it is important for me personally to go ahead and affirm that same-sex couples should be able to get married.” Mr. Obama was quoted in the said interview.
