The Manny Pacquiao versus Juan Manuel Marquez 4 official weigh-in was held at the MGM Grand Garden arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, December 7, 2012 (Saturday in Manila). The Pacquiao vs Marquez 4 non-title welterweight fight on Saturday, December 8 will be their fourth bout in eight years.
The Filipino boxing hero reportedly tipped the scales at the welterweight division limit of 147-pounds, while the Mexican reportedly weighed in at 143-pounds.
Pacquiao has a boxing record of 54-4-2 (win-loss-draw) with 38 knockouts. Marquez has a fight record of 54-6-1 (win-loss-draw) with 39 knockouts.
Their previous three fights ended up with a draw and two victories for Pacquiao. However, Marquez believes that he was robbed of a win by the judges in their last two bouts.
Coach Freddie Roach, of Team Pacquiao, reportedly said that Marquez is one of the most difficult opponent of Pacquiao. Roach reiterates that the Filipino champ will need a convincing victory to go past the Mexican fighter in their fourth bout.
An estimated 5,000 fans for both boxers reportedly came to witness the official weigh-in. The MGM Grand was reportedly drowned by chants of “Manny, Manny” and “Marquez, Marquez.”
Observers say that Marquez‘s flag-waving Mexican supporters dominated Filipino fans during the Friday weigh-in.
Reports say that the 16,000-capacity MGM Grand arena was already sold out.
Marquez reportedly told the crowd that Saturday’s fight “is going to be a war.”
Pacquiao meanwhile said that “This fight is dedicated to those fans.”
