Top celebrity host Oprah Winfrey reportedly favored Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup as she shared her insights on the result of the recently concluded Miss Universe 2011, according to reports circulating on social media sites on Tuesday, September 13, 2011.

Miss Angola Leila Lopes won the crown as Miss Universe 2011 while Supsup won as third runner-up. However, Winfrey comments that Miss Philippines answered more convincingly during the question and answer portion of the Miss Universe pageant.

Winfrey reportedly pointed out the breaks provided by the interpreter as an advantage for the other four finalists. Supsup is the only candidate in the Top Five who did not have an interpreter during the Q and A portion.

Below is Oprah Winfrey‘s reported comments on the Miss Universe 2011 question and answer portion when she was said to be interviewed by NBC.

“I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the Q and A portion…, after having been trimmed down to 5, Ms. Philippines deserved to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice. The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point.”

Editor’s Note: The above quote has been circulating on different social media sites. However, Oprah or NBC did not confirm the statement as of posting time.
