The latest US gold medal was reportedly captured by Jamie Lynn Gray on Saturday, August 4, 2012, according to several London Olympics 2012 coverages.

The American athlete set a new record after winning the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions Shooting Finals on Day 8 of the 2012 London Olympics.

Gray breaks the previous Olympic record after she registered a score of 691.9 in the shooting event.

The 28-year-old American earlier set an Olympic record when she scored 592 in the qualifying round.

It was a complete redemption for Gray after she placed fifth during the Beijing Olympics four years ago.

Ivana Maksimovic of Serbia took the silver medal and Adela Sykorova of Czechoslovakia settled for bronze.

World number one Barbara Engeder of Germany was reportedly out of the medal podium after placing sixth overall.

As of posting, the US leads the 2012 London Olympics medal tally with 22 golds, 10 silvers, and 13 bronzes. China is in second place with 20 golds, 14 silvers and 9 bronzes. Great Britain is currently in third place with 10 golds, seven silvers, and eight bronzes.
