Nutella CEO Pietro Ferrero In Cycling Mishap

Pietro Ferrero of Nutella producer Ferrero Group holding company, died on Monday, April 18, 2011, when he fell from a bicycle in South Africa, according to reports by several international sites.

The Nutella company CEO is on a business trip in Cape Town when the incident happened.

Ferrero, 47, is also the Chairman of Ferrero S.p.A., the Italian subsidiary of the family-owned corporation.

Nutella, Tic Tac mints and other confectionaries were among the candies and sweets being produced by the Ferrero empire. The company was founded in 1942 by Ferrero‘s namesake grandfather Pietro.

The incident on Ferrero was announced by the company’s press office in Alba, Northwestern Italy. However, there was no clear explanation yet on why Ferrero fell from the bicycle.

Ferrero‘s billionaire family is reportedly the richest in Italy.
