Nonito Donaire wins over Fernando Montiel, knockout at Round 2

Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire wins over Fernando ‘Cochulito’ Montiel, knocks him out at round 2 with a left hook, at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on February 19, 2011, Saturday. (February 20, Sunday in Manila).

As watched live on TV at ABS-CBN Channel 2, Donaire stopped Montiel with a strong left hook, and dropped on the floor with his body flat and both hands straight.

Montiel went up finally and although hurt, he tried to continue the fight but Donaire went wild and send him to the corner. The referee immediately stopped the fight.

Nonito Donaire won the fight and is now the World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight champion of the world.

As earlier reported, most boxing analysts predicted that Nonito Donaire will win this fight.
