As shown at ABS-CBN live, Nonito Donaire Jr beat Omar “El Huracan” Narvaez, and successfully defended his World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight belts.

As noted at Boxing Scene, all the three judges voted in favor of the Filipino boxer (27-1, 18KOs) after 12 rounds of boxing, 120-108, with Narvaez going very defensively during the entire fight.

Donaire, 28, started to get busy in the fourth round, while Narvaez stayed defensive and only keeps on covering his face. Although he was notably defending himself well enough, he did not make noticeable offensive moves.

Narvaez, 36, a two-division undefeated champion and a noted defensive boxer, seemed to have decided just to stay alive until the end of the fight. The crowd booed at him and even Donaire was not satisfied with the outcome.

“I did my best. I was very frustrated. I’m sorry it didn’t come out the way we wanted. I wanted him to open up. He had his hands up. Now I know how Pacquiao felt with Clottey.” Donaire was quoted at ESPN after the fight.
