Nintendo 3DS Firmware Update Now Available In All Regions

The Nintendo 3DS firmware update is now available in all regions, several gaming news sites reported on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. The firmware update’s version is 4.0.0-7.

According to reports, the firmware update was first announced on Nintendo Direct conference last week. The new update allows players to create folders where games, videos and apps can be stored. Each folder offers up to 60 icons. New folders can be added by tapping an empty space on the menu, reports said.

Reports also said that with the new update, players has now the ability to patch their games. Games can now receive updates in the form of patches or free add-on content.

It was said that Mario Kart 7 will get an update to address glitches this coming May. Additionally, Mighty Switch Force! will get five extra levels and a quick-retry button as a free update in the near future.

To get the firmware update, the following instruction is provided by NintendoLife.com:

  • Make sure your 3DS is charged up or near a charger; it may take a while.
  • Open System Settings — the spanner on your main menu.
  • Select “Other Settings”.
  • Scroll to the page furthest to the right.
  • Select System Update and navigate the agreements there.
