Nicolas Cage paid more than $600,000 for a portion of his tax debt, TMZ reported on Monday, November 19, 2012.

According to TMZ, Cage was hit with a federal tax lien in 2011 for $624,934.64 for not paying taxes on some really expensive gifts he gave out between 2004 and 2009. Those are all paid up now.

However, Cage still owes the United States government some $6 million to settle his total debt. Cage reportedly paid $6 million last April and he plans to pay his remaining debts in the next year or two.

“Over the course of my career I have paid at least $70 million in taxes. Unfortunately, due to a recent legal situation, another approximate $14 million is owed to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), however, I am under new business management and am happy to say that I am current for 2009. All taxes will be paid including any to be determined state taxes,” Cage reportedly said in 2010 as quoted by the Inquisitr.

According to reports, Cage was paid $7.5 million for the latest Ghost Rider, $12 million for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and another $12 million for Seeking Justice.

Nicolas Cage has eight movies lined up for 2013, reports said.
