New7Wonders of Nature winners on first vote count revealed, Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) included

Manila, Philippines – The list of New7Wonders of Nature winners based on its first vote count has been revealed; and Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) in Palawan is one of them.

As noted at on Friday, November 11, 2011, the first count of the worldwide vote for the winners of New7Wonders of Nature includes Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR).

According to the report, the winners (in alphabetical order, not ranking) are Amazon, Halong Bay, Iguazu Falls, Jeju Island, Komodo, Puerto Princesa Underground River, and Table Mountain.

“We congratulate each of these participants on achieving their provisional New7Wonders of Nature status, and look forward to completing the confirmation process.” New7Wonders of Nature President Bernard Weber said on the report.

“When the New7Wonders of Nature are confirmed they will join the man-made New 7 Wonders of the World in becoming part of Global Memory for humankind for ever.” He added.

However, the organization emphasized that it is possible there will be changes between the above provisionally declared winners and the eventual finally confirmed winners.

Nevertheless, the group said that voting calculation is now being checked, validated and independently verified, with the final winners to be announced starting early 2012 during the Official Inauguration ceremonies.

As reported earlier, Puerto Princesa Underground River (PURP) was declared as among the Top 10 contenders and Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn said it could win as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.
