New York Election Results 2010: Kirsten Gillibrand wins Senate seat over Joe DioGuardi

Kirsten GillibrandAccording to international news sites, incumbent Republican Kirsten Gillibrand was reelected as Senator against Democrat candidate Joe DioGuardi. Senator Gillibrand got 61% of the votes against the 37% of DioGuardi. Hillary Clinton is the former senator of New York. Gillibrand was appointed as Senator when Clinton ran for the 2008 presidential nomination where she lost by a slim margin against now President Barack Obama.

Democrat Charles Schumer also handily defeated Republican Jay Townsend. With over 84% of the votes reported, Schumer has 65% of the votes against the 33% of TownsendSchumer won majority of the counties except for Hamilton, Wyoming, Allegany, and Tioga.

In the Governor’s race, Democrat Andrew Cuomo currently leads with 58% of the votes against Republican Carl Paladino with to 33%.
