New Year’s Eve 2012: San Jose Bakeries experience drop in bread sales

New Years Eve 2012 is not so good for bakers in San Jose, Batangas as they experienced a drop in sales of bread, specifically on loaf bread or American bread. Most bakery owners interviewed by the author said that their inventory were still averaging 10 percent as they prepare to close shop on New Years Eve.

American bread weighing 450g to 500g usually sells from P25 to P32. During New Years Eve, majority of the bread in most bakeries in San Jose are American bread.

During the past years, the demand for American bread has been increasing. According to bakery owners, this is the first time in five years that bakeries experienced a significant drop in sales during New Years Eve.
