New Twitter launched, redesigned version introduces 4 new tabs (Video)

A new Twitter was launched on Thursday, December 8, 2011, with the redesigned version and introduced four new tabs, as shown in the demo video below.

As posted at the official Twitter blog that day, the new design of Twitter is a simplified version so that the microblogging site will be easier and simpler to use via smartphones.

According to Twitter, the simplified Twitter has new key areas; Home, Connect, Discover and Me, which are fully explained at and will be available to all Twitter users over the next few weeks.

“Today we introduce a new version of Twitter. We’ve simplified the design to make it easier than ever to follow what you care about, connect with others and discover something new.” A statement reads at Twitter blog.

“You’ll see this new design both on and mobile phones, so that you’ll have a familiar experience any time, anywhere.” The statement added.

As noted at, the “Home” key will show tweets from the people the user chose to follow, personal collection of tweets, the latest news, commentary and information from various sources.

On the other hand, the “Connect” key will show who has followed or mentioned the user, retweeted or favorited one of the tweets, which is a way for users to keep the conversation flowing.

Meanwhile, the “Discover” key will show results reflecting one’s interests based on the current location of the user. In addition, users can a “hashtag” to discover all of its related stories, conversation and content.

Lastly, the “Me” tab is the profile section which will show all about the user’s information which includes the user’s photo, interests, location, website or blog, and where people can tweet the user directly.
