Samsung unveiled this Tuesday, December 18, 2012 its latest smartphone called the Galaxy Grand, two days after a US federal judge denied Apple’s demand to ban the sale of Samsung phones. This new Samsung Galaxy Grand has a 5-inch WVGA display and runs Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean).

According to a post at SamsungTomorrow.com that day, the new Samsung Galaxy smartphone can provide an expansive and clear viewing experience, presenting messaging, multimedia, and Web content with brilliant colors. Despite having a wide screen, Samsung noted that it is still comfortable to hold.

Among the key features of the new Samsung Galaxy Grand include sporting a 1.2 GHz Dual Core processor, a 2 MP HD camera in front and an 8 MP camera at the back, along with 8GB user memory with 1GB of RAM, which can be upgraded up to 64GB via a microSD memory card.

In addition, Galaxy Grand has a support for Samsung‘s Multi Window mode of operation or the so-called multitasking running multiple apps, which means users will be able to run two apps on the screen at the same time and without switching screens.

Meanwhile, Samsung mentioned some of its features that will help users use the phone easily. These include Direct Call, where users can automatically make a call by raising the device up to the ear; Popup Video that allows users to watch video in a pop-up window; and S Voice that can be used to control the phone.

Samsung noted that the new Galaxy smartphone, which will be available in Dual SIM version and (GT-I9082) single SIM version (GT-I9080), will connect to fast HSPA+ networks, but did not mention anything about the 4G LTE version. Prices and release dates for both versions were not yet announced.
