AT&T announced on Monday, September 17, 2012 that the iPhone 5 sales have recently set a new iPhone record, adding that it is now the fastest-selling iPhone the company has ever sold. The announcement was made on the same day Apple said that iPhone 5 preorder sales reached to 20 million units in the first 24 hours.
According to a report by AT&T on its official website that day, customers ordered “more iPhones from AT&T than any previous model both on its first day of preorders and over the weekend,” but did not mention on how many iPhone 5 units they have already sold.
As noted by AT&T, they are offering a number of advantages for iPhone 5 customers, including having the largest 4G Network in the US, covering 275 million people; and flexible rate plans that gives customers the flexibility to choose from one of several individual or Mobile Share plans.
The Dallas-based carrier also reminded the public that the iPhone 5, which starts at $199 for the 16 GB version, is still available for preorders online at www.ATT.com/iPhone and will also be sold in AT&T retail stores nationwide starting Friday, September 21, at 8 a.m. (local time).
Among the key features of the iPhone 5, which is also available via Verizon and Sprint, include having a 4-inch 1,136-by-640 Retina display, an 8-megapixel iSight camera on the back, a revamped Apple-designed A6 processor. It is also known as the thinnest smartphone in the world, with a thickness of 7.6 mm.
The iPhone 5, which also costs $299 for the 32GB model and $399 for the 64GB model, will also go on sale in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and the UK, starting Friday, September 21, and will also be available in 22 other countries on September 28, a week later.
