New Dog Breeds Added in Kennel Club Registry that increase 2011 list to 175

New dog breeds were already allowed to be enlisted in the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) Registy since January 1, 2011. Two new breeds that will be eligible to compete in 2011 was announced by CKC in its website on January 6, 2011.

According to CKC, the new dog breeds enlisted and for future enlistment include Lancashire and Dogue de Bordeaux. The eligibility of these two new dog breeds will be on:

  • January 1, 2011 for Lancashire Heeler and will be assigned in Group 7 (Herding).
  • July 1, 2011 for Dogue de Bordeaux and will be assigned in Group 3 (Working).

The Conformation judging permit being worked out by the judges may be affected by the addition of these new dog breeds.

Other reports say that CKC now has 175 dog breeds enlisted in its registry.

The American Kennel Club dog breeds registry has also been updated on January 26, 2011 that increased its list to 170.

AKC has recently released its list of Top Ten Most Popular Dogs in the US.
