A new version of Chevrolet Corvette sports car will be produced as General Motors Co. (GM) revamps its Bowling Green, Kentucky factory, several automobile sites reported on Wednesday.

Reports said that GM will invest $131 million to revamp the Kentucky plant so that it can be used to produce the seventh generation of the Corvette.

According to Mark Reuss, GM‘s North American president, the sports car will have a completely different look. “Don’t ask me how or what, but people will be really surprised, in a good way,” Reuss was quoted saying.

Reuss did not give further information on how the next generation of Corvette will look like. Meanwhile, automobile blogs are speculating that the new Corvette will debut on 2013.
