As noted on their official website that day, Brooklyn Nets held a press conference at Modell’s Sporting Goods store across the street from their new arena and launched their new set of official logos, which were designed by Jay Z.

Apparently, the first new Brooklyn Nets logo features a shield and the name “Nets” accompanied by the letter “B” inside a basketball and “Brooklyn” underneath, while the second one features the letter “B” inside a basketball encircled by “Brooklyn New York“.

The launch of the new Brooklyn Nets logos was attended by top Brooklyn Nets officials and players including CEO Brett Yormark, Coach Avery Johnson, General Manager Billy King, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, team’s minority owner Bruce Ratner, and center Brook Lopez.

“We’ve been waiting a long time for this. The Brooklyn Nets are finally part of the conversation. The colors and logos fit with Brooklyn’s strong history and heritage,” Mr. Yormark was quoted in the press conference on Monday.

“They differentiate us. Just like Brooklyn is different than anywhere in the world we will be the lone NBA team with only black and white as colors.” Yormark added, noting that the logo is the ‘shield of Brooklyn‘.

“Hello Brooklyn, I’ve been waiting a long time to say that. It’s very exciting. For the longest time, I’ve been pestering guys like Billy and Brett to give me some hints about what our new logo and new colors look like.” Brook Lopez said in the event.

“And now that I’ve seen everything, I have to say I’m a huge fan. Jay Z has done a great job of designing what will become a large part of our identity at the Barclays Center and Brooklyn.” Lopez added.
