A man in Nebraska legally changed his name to Tyrannosaurus Rex Joseph Gold on Monday, May 7, 2012, who was born with a name of Tyler Gold.

According to a report by The York News-Times on Tuesday, the 23-year-old man requested his name to be changed to Tyrannosaurus Rex, and was approved by a judge after going through legal requests.

As noted in the report, Judge Alan Gless of York County District Court in Nebraska allowed the name change after Tyrannosaurus Rex, who is an entrepreneur, told him he wanted his name to be changed so that it would sound cool.

Nevertheless, the man noted that name recognition is important to his career and that Tyrannosaurus Rex is more recognizable than his former name, emphasizing that he is not hiding from creditors or law enforcement.

Apparently, Tyrannosaurus Rex (or T-Rex) came from a Greek term that means “tyrant lizard king”, which is also the name assigned to a huge dinosaur that scientists claimed to have lived on earth around 65 million year ago, and was noted to be one of the largest known land predators.
