NBA Playoffs: Miami Wins Game 1 of 2012 NBA Eastern Finals vs Boston

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade carried the Miami Heat to victory over the Boston Celtics, 93-79, in Game 1 of the 2012 NBA Eastern Conference Finals on Monday, May 28, 2012 at the American Airlines Arena, Miami, FL, as published at NBA.com.

James led all scorers with 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Wade added 22 points for Miami. Shane Battier had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Heat.

Even without Miami center Chris Bosh, the Heat out-rebounded the Celtics, 48-33 and blocked 11 shots.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra cautioned his team that winning game one is not enough. Spoelstra said that Boston “still have an opportunity in Game 2 to accomplish what they want to.” He was referring to Boston’s target of grabbing the home-court advantage by winning Game 2.

Kevin Garnett scored 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Boston. Rajon Rondo added 16 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Celtics. Paul Pierce contributed 12 points.

Game 2 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals is scheduled on Wednesday night, May 30 at the Miami homecourt.
