The Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heat,101-91, in Game 3 of the 2012 NBA Eastern Conference Finals on Friday night, June 1, 2012 at TD Garden, Boston, MA, as published at NBA.com. The Celtics cut the Heat‘s lead in the 2012 NBA Playoffs best-of-seven series, 2-1.
Kevin Garnett dominated the paint and made some key perimeter jump shots to lead the Boston victory with 24 points, and 11 rebounds. Paul Pierce added 23 points and Rajon Rondo, who had a career-high 44 points in Game 2, contributed 21 points and 10 assists for the Celtics.
Boston had its biggest lead of the game at 24 early in the fourth quarter and hold-off a Miami rally late in the game. The Celtics outscored the Heat in the paint, 58-46, by going to Garnett underneath the rim.
Three-time MVP LeBron James scored 34 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished off 5 assists for Miami. He scored 16 of his team’s 28 first quarter points. Dwyane Wade added 18 points on 9-of-20 field goal shooting.
Game 4 of the 2012 NBA Eastern Conference Finals best-of-seven series is scheduled on Sunday night, June 3 at the TD Garden in Boston, MA.
