Nate Silver‘s predictions of the 2012 US Presidential Elections reportedly triggered an increase in the demand for his book entitled “The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predictions Fail – but Some Don’t.” Silver correctly predicted US President Barack Obama‘s victory over Republican candidate Mitt Romney on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
A CNN Money report said that sold copies of Nate Silver’s book increased by 850% at Amazon.com in a span of 24 hours after Election Day.
Reports say that Silver‘s book is now the “second best selling book” at the Amazon website.
Silver earlier predicted correctly the 49 states called by the networks on Election Day. He was also correct in predicting the slight edge of US President Obama in Florida. Silver projected that there is a 90 percent chance that Obama will win a second term from the outcome of the electoral college votes.
He compiled all his 2012 US election analysis in his blog at fivethirtyeight.com. At Alexa.com, “538” became one of the top searched keyword.
