According to the New York Post on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, the 1954 Christian Dior Oscar gown that Natalie Portman wore on the said event was bought by an unnamed British couture collector in London.

As noted in the report, Rare Vintage after the event placed the stylish red vintage dress in auction at 1stdibs.com where it was immediately sold for $50,000 (£32,000).

Apparently, Portman, 30, an Oscar winner herself, presented the Best Actor award to “The Artist” star Jean Dujardin last February 26, wearing the size 4, strapless, black polka-dotted dress and earned divided comments from fashion observers.

Natalie‘s dress is amazing. It’s an actual 1954 spring couture dress. She was actually going to wear another dress but then I got a call from the woman at Rare Vintage and she was like, “You should see this dress for Natalie.” Portman‘s Oscar night stylist Kate Young was quoted at Intotheglass.com.

“So we went and she put it on, and it needed zero alterations, and Natalie was like, ‘This was meant to be, wasn’t it?’ And I said, ‘I guess it was.”‘ Young added.
