A naked Aphrodite in Cyprus Passports had caused disagreement between the foreign and interior ministry of Cyprus. International news reports said that the new passports feature Aphrodite or the Goddess of Love in all her physical splendor.

The disagreement stems from the fact that the Foreign Ministry of Cyprus is aware of the cultures of other foreign countries that do not allow pictures of women in their birthday suits. Having passports with such images may get Cyprus citizens “into trouble” in foreign countries.

According to Greek legend, Aphrodite the Goddess of Love and Beauty had many lovers. She is also called the Lady of Cyprus because she came from Cyprus’ aphros (sea foam).

Aside from the image of Aphrodite, the revised Cyprus passports also include a biometric tracking chip which made the passports easily recognizable.
