Mount Sinabung Erupts In Indonesia

Mt SinabungAfter being inactive for more than 400 years, Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra, Indonesia erupted early Sunday, which caused thousands of people to flee their homes.

Priyadi Kardono of the National Disaster Management Agency has this to say: “The situation is under control. Emergency response teams are already on the scene.”

The center issued a warning last Saturday ordering evacuation of a 6 km radius around the volcano.

No casualties has been reported so far.

Indonesia is on the so-called “Ring of Fire,” an arc of volcanoes and fault lines encircling the Pacific Basin.
