Most Well-Read Cities: Virginia Cities Top’s List of Amazon’s Most Well-Read City in the US

Alexandria City, a small urban area in Virginia, was listed by Amazon.com as the most well-read city in the United States (US), according to reports by several international news sites on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Amazon reportedly listed down 20 of the most well-read cities in the US for 2012 based on sales data on books, magazine and newspaper and eBooks since June 2011.

The Amazon list of the 20 most read cities include areas with populations of more than 100,000 residents.

According to Chris Schluep, senior editor of books at Amazon.com, “It’s great to see that we are truly a nation of readers, with representation on this list from every region of the country.”

Reports say that Alexandria residents mostly read romantic books. Cambridge readers preferred Business and Investment books. Book readers in Boulder, Colorado were the most health conscious as they look for materials that pertains to Health, Fitness and Diet. Berkeley residents mostly ordered books related to travel.
