Moscow’s Elementary Schools Closed due to Flu Outbreak

Moscow’s Elementary Schools, grades 1 to 8, will be closed due to a flu outbreak, which had caused the demise of two people. This was announced by Leonid Pechatnikov, Moscow’s Health Department Chief, and reported by local news sites, Moscow Russia, January 29, 2011.

Only the elementary schools are recommended closed though, and not the kindergartens, 9th, 10th and 11th grades. They are scheduled to reopen next week, pending further recommendations by the City’s Health Department.

Two more places, Chelyabinsk and Yakutsk were also included in the announcement as more and more are afflicted by the flu. This is the biggest flu outbreak so far in the City of Moscow.
