Top caliber Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman was reported on Monday to be confirming that he ‘is not the voice behind the B. J. Lawson political ad’, as published on Los Angeles Times.

B. J. Lawson, is a Republican candidate, and was said to be running for Congress in the 4th district in North Carolina, while the said political ad was a supposed campaign attack against rival Democratic candidate, David Price.

“These people are lying. I have never recorded any campaign ads for B.J. Lawson and I do not support his candidacy,” Freeman said in a statement on Monday, which is now circulating around the Internet.

“And, no one who represents me ever has ever authorized the use of my name, voice or any other likeness in support of Mr. Lawson or his candidacy.” The Shawshank Redemption movie veteran actor added.

Apparently, this seems to be contrary with the earlier press release made by Lawson for Congress campaign, which was also published on Monday.

“In response to numerous queries and enthusiastic feedback, the Lawson for Congress campaign confirms that its latest radio and TV ad is indeed narrated by actor Morgan Freeman.” The press release claimed.

Meanwhile, other news reports later said that the Republican‘s campaign issued a written apology about the issue.

“This is terribly unfortunate, and we apologize profusely to Morgan Freeman for what has happened,” Lawson said, according to the statement. “This is obviously not something we ever would want to misrepresent.”
