A monster truck hits crowd in Chihuahua, Mexico on Saturday, October 5, 2013. The driver of the monster truck lost control as it plowed through the spectators of the “Extreme Aeroshow.”

As of posting, reports by authorities indicated that at least eight people were killed and over 80 individuals were injured.

Chihuahua state prosecutors’ office spokesman Carlos Gonzalez explained that the monster truck jumped over several cars before plowing through the crowd. Raw video of the incident showed how the truck rolled over three vehicles.

Injured spectators explained that some of them “fell over” and “saw the tire very close.” The victims were rushed to nearby hospitals and were confined until Sunday.

Initial reports say that the monster truck had a mechanical failure and the driver was unable slow it down.

One witness said that “The driver hit his head and his helmet flew off. The truck came directly at where we were.”

Due to the incident, organizers of the air show canceled the event which is only on its second day of the three-day show.
