Mobile World Congress 2011: ViewSonic’s ViewPad 4 Smartphone To Run Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS

The 2011 Mobile World Congress (MWC), considered as the biggest mobile technologies tradeshow of the year, will be held on February 14-17, 2011, in Barcelona, Spain.

The MWC event is expected to feature more exciting smartphones and gadgets as the playing field for this market has widened. According to the 2011 MWC website, a record-breaking number of attendees is expected to breach the 50,000 mark this year.

During the 2011 MWC, Viewsonic is expected to announce that its ViewPad 4 smartphone will now run the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system by Google. ViewPad 4 is a fully functional smartphone and is not a tablet as its name suggests.

Below is the specifications and features of the new ViewPad 4 from ViewSonic.

  • Diplay features a 4.1-inch WVGA capacitive touch screen
  • Processor is 1 Ghz Qualcomm
  • 5MP Camera with the capability of recording a 720p HD video
  • GPS functionality
  • Connectivity includes WiFi and Bluetooth
  • Provides an HDMI 720p display output

Based on earlier reports, the 2011 MWC is also expected to focus on LTE technology and will be able to showcase a lot of LTE equipment. Mobile companies such as Samsung, LG, Motorola and HTC may also present smartphones that can support 4G technology.
