Miss Universe 2011 winner is Miss Angola Leila Lopes, Miss Ukraine 1st runner up, Miss Brazil second, Shamcey Supsup third

Miss Angola Leila Lopes was declared as the Miss Universe 2011 winner on Monday, September 12, 2011 (Tuesday, September 13 in Manila) at the Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

As shown live at ABS-CBN that day, the Miss Universe 2011 winners were announced and Miss Angola Leila Lopes won the Miss Universe 2011 crown; beating 88 other candidates from all over the world.

Miss Ukraine Olesya Stefanko won as as the first runner-up, Miss Brazil Priscila Machado land as 2nd runner up while Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup as third runner-up.

During the Miss Universe 2011 Q&A portion, Miss Angola Leila Lopes, 25, was asked by judge Lea Salonga; “If you would change one of your physical characteristics, which one would it be and why?”

“Thank God I am very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn’t change a thing.” Miss Angola replied, through the help of an English translator.

On the other hand, Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup was asked by judge Vivica A. Fox if she is willing to change her the religion to marry someone she loves. Below is her reply.

“If I had to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love because the first person that I love is God who created me and I have my faith and my principles and this is what makes me who I am. And if that person loves me, he should love my God too.”

As announced earlier, the 89 Miss Universe 2011 candidates were trimmed down to Top 16, Top 10 and Top 5, which include Miss Ukraine, Miss China, Miss Brazil, Miss Angola and Miss Philippines.

For the Miss Universe 2011 evening gown competition, Miss Angola Leila Lopes landed on the first spot with 7.2 in global online votes while Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup placed second, with 6.7 votes.
